USE OF PROCEEDS
All proceeds from this event go to the Moores UCSD Cancer Center. The following are specific areas that have been supported by proceeds from the Luau & Longboard Invitational that may not otherwise receive funding:
- Cancer prevention and control using biomarkers for detecting cancer at pre or early stages
- Medical oncology trials in liver, lung, pancreatic, gastrointestinal cancers, HIV cancers, leukemia and head and neck cancers
- Radiation oncology in gynecological and gastrointestinal cancers
- Social worker program for patients of the Moores UCSD Cancer Center
Immediate needs that the Moores UCSD Cancer Center hopes to finance with future Luau and Longboard Invitational proceeds:
- Investigator-initiated research for new innovative treatments for cancer that don’t yet have industrial sponsorship
- Recruitment of world-class physicians-scientists who will successfully combine cutting-edge research with consummate and compassionate care for patients and their families as they fight cancer.
